Sometimes a WSSC Water meter reader cannot get a water usage reading. When that's the case, we'll ask you to submit a meter reading yourself.

If you have a water meter inside your home, but you're not sure how to read it - or you're not even sure where it's located - watch this video to be guided through the simple process.
The outside meters are normally located in the front yard or the common area by the curb. However, they can also be in a driveway, sidewalk, or street.
Some outside meters share a meter pit and may be located in front of a neighbor’s home or, in some cases, on another street.
If you have an outside meter, please contact WSSC Water at 301-206-4001 to request a check reading or witness a reading. A check reading will not require anyone to be at home. However, if a customer wants to witness their meter reading, they can call our Customer Service Advisors to set an appointment at 301-206-4001.
