First Time Vendors: Getting Started with WSSC Water

Information about WSSC Water Solicitation Terminology

To be eligible to participate in WSSC Water solicitations vendors must be registered in our WSSC Supplier Portal. The Procurement Office uses the industry classifications (North America Industry Classification System – NAICS codes) to send notifications about upcoming solicitations. The WSSC Supplier Portal allows suppliers to keep their information up to date to ensure they are receiving all applicable solicitation notifications based on their NAICS codes.

WSSC Water Solicitations

All WSSC Water solicitations are posted in the WSSC Supplier Portal (you must be a registered supplier to engage with solicitations in the portal, register here.). When viewing solicitation opportunities, you will notice the type of solicitations shown are Auction, RFQ, and RFI. 

An Auction can be an Invitation for Bid (IFB) or a Request for Quotation (RFQ)

An RFQ can be a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a Multi-Step IFB

An RFI can be a Request for Information (RFI) or a Request for Qualification (RFQu)

The solicitation will provide guidance on the type of the contract you’re submitting a response for.

Overview of the registration process

Enter your Primary Business Information:

• Company Name
• Tax Country
• Taxpayer ID
• DUNS Number

Enter your Primary Contact Information:

• Email
• Name
• Phone Number

Select Products and Services (NAICS Codes)

Enter your Minority Business Enterprise, Women Business Enterprise and/or WSSC Water Small Local Business Enterprise Information, if applicable

Select Supplier Profile Attributes:

• Business Type
• Organization Type
• 1099 Reportable (Y/N)
• Women Owned
• Small Business

Attach these supporting documents:

• W9
• Certificate of Insurance
• MBE/SLBE Certificates, if applicable

SUBMIT the application

• You will receive a Registration Approval with a log-in link and temporary password
• Complete registration by logging in and creating a permanent password

Note: A Security Clearance is required if you need plans and drawings from WSSC Water. Please visit the Engineering Records and Information page to start the process.
