Jon T. Rymer
Jon leads the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), whose mission is to help WSSC Water be fiscally transparent, sustainable and ethically responsible. The office conducts independent audits, evaluations and investigations; makes evidence-based recommendations to promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness; and prevents and detects fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement and misconduct within WSSC Water.
Jon previously worked as an auditor in both the private sector and government. He served as a federal inspector general for more than nine years in the Obama and [George W.] Bush administrations and as the inspector general at the Department of Defense, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Securities and Exchange Commission.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Jon earned his MBA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He is a certified Internal Auditor, Government Auditing Professional and Defense Financial Manager.
Jon served more than 30 years in the active and reserve components of the U.S. Army and is a graduate of its Inspector General School. He was awarded the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service and continues to work with current and former military members as a volunteer in veteran’s service organizations.
