The Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Storage and Headworks* Improvements is part of the Broad Creek WWPS Augmentation Project. The Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Storage and Headworks* Improvements is one of four construction contracts associated with the Broad Creek WWPS Augmentation Project. The Piscataway Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Storage and Headworks* Improvements construction contract include the following:
- Removal of 6,000 dry tons of sludge from existing ponds.
- Restoration of roadways and vegetated areas.
- Construction of an overflow gravity sewer, return gravity sewer, RCP final effluent overflow gravity sewer, and a pressure sewer throughout the Piscataway site.
- Construction of new Screening and Grit Facilities.
- Construction of a 5 million gallon emergency storage tank.
- Construction of a 15 million gallon lined storage pond.
- Construction of a carbon media filter system and perimeter odor neutralizing system.
- Implementation of storm water management and erosion and sediment control measures.
*Headworks defines the start of the treatment process. The incoming flow of wastewater begins here and goes through the various treatment processes.
