Monica Marquina
As the Government Affairs Director, Monica manages the Intergovernmental Relations Office, which oversees WSSC Water's legislative agenda and represents this organization before elected bodies. She oversees the research, development, analysis, and lobbying for or against legislation impacting WSSC Water. She also serves as the primary liaison between WSSC Water and elected officials.
Monica is a longtime resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland, with extensive government relations experience at the state, county and municipal levels. Before joining WSSC Water, she was the Legislative Affairs Manager for the City of Gaithersburg. Monica was also very involved with the Maryland Municipal League in addition to serving on the Executive Board for the Montgomery County Chapter.
Monica is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in political science. When not advocating for WSSC Water, she serves as the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for Identity, Inc. a non-profit whose mission is to create opportunities for Latino and other historically underserved youth to realize their highest potential and thrive.
In her free time, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two dogs - Romeo and Bella as well as her pet duck – Blossom.
