AMI technology enables water meters to communicate water usage information wirelessly using radio or cellular technology. With AMI, customers can better manage water usage and protect against high bills. Through a user-friendly portal, customers will have more control over their water use, thereby reducing bills and saving money. From an environmental perspective, WSSC Water will decrease its carbon footprint due to a reduction in the number of trucks needed to manually read meters. All existing meter readers will be retrained, so no jobs will be lost.
