The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is seeking applicants to fill one expired term on its Board of Ethics (Board).  The Board is comprised of three regular members and an alternate member.  The current opening is for one regular Board member, to be nominated by a WSSC Commissioner from either Montgomery or Prince George’s counties. Board members serve three-year terms or until a successor is appointed.

The Board administers the WSSC Code of Regulations, Code of Ethics (Code), issues advisory opinions, responds to requests for waivers of Code prohibitions, acts on complaints, and periodically reviews the adequacy of the Code.  The qualifications for members of the Board of Ethics are professionalism, integrity, and competence. A background in workplace ethics is preferred.  The Board generally meets from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at WSSC’s Richard G. Hocevar Building, 14501 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, Maryland 20707, but that date is subject to change.  Additionally, the Board may periodically meet virtually.  Each Board member receives a stipend for each monthly meeting attended and hearing days.

Please send letters of interest and resumes to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, Attn: Ethics Office, 14501 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, Maryland, 20707.  To be considered, documents must be postmarked by May 16, 2025.  Alternatively, applicants may send letters of interest and resumes by email to the Ethics Office at EthicsQuestions@wsscwater.com by May 16, 2025.
