Laurel, Md. – September 17, 2024 – WSSC Water Commissioners are holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 18, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting, held in person at the WSSC Water building in Laurel, is open to the public and available via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.
Commissioners are scheduled to vote to transmit the Proposed Capital Improvements Program for Fiscal Years 2026 – 2031 to Montgomery and Prince George’s County governments. The proposed $4.87 billion program focuses on upgrading and replacing WSSC Water’s aging critical infrastructure to enable the continued delivery of clean, safe and reliable drinking water and wastewater services to 1.9 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
This month’s meeting agenda includes scheduled votes on $59 million in contracts. You can find the list of all contracts and meeting presentations on WSSC Water’s website.
The monthly meeting will be Jonathan Powell’s first in his new role as Montgomery County Commissioner. Appointed by County Executive Marc Elrich, Powell was approved by the Montgomery County Council on July 30.
The meeting includes a call-in option to ensure interested stakeholders not in attendance can provide input. Those watching virtually and wishing to speak should call in at the beginning of the comments section, which begins shortly after 10 a.m. Callers will be admitted from the “lobby” when public comments start. Considering the meeting's unusually long duration, members of the public will have one minute for oral comments. Written comments of any length are always welcome.
