Laurel, Md. – December 17, 2024 – WSSC Water Commissioners are holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 18, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting will be in person at the WSSC Water building in Laurel. It is open to the public and available via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.
Commissioners will be briefed on a second temporary water bill amnesty program to help eligible customers with delinquent water/sewer bills. The program will be similar to the popular Get Current program implemented in June 2023 and extended through August 2023.
As of December 2, 2024, approximately 96,000 accounts are past due - totaling nearly $58 million – the vast majority (74 percent) of which are residential customers.
Also on the agenda are scheduled votes on more than $37 million in contracts. The list of all contracts and meeting presentations is on WSSC Water’s website.
The meeting includes a call-in option to ensure interested stakeholders not in attendance can provide input. Those watching virtually and wishing to speak should call in at the beginning of the comments section, which begins shortly after 10 a.m. Callers will be admitted from the “lobby” when public comments start. Members of the public will have three minutes for oral comments. Written comments of any length are always welcome.
