Laurel, Maryland – April 16, 2010: If you’ve ever wondered what happens after you flush your toilet, then take a tour of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission’s Seneca or Damascus Wastewater Treatment Plant on Saturday, April 24. Part of WSSC’s on-going Earth Month activities, the tour is designed to give our customers a first hand look at what it takes to run waste treatment systems.

WSSC’s mission is to operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants to produce clean water that meets all requirements for discharging to waters of the State of Maryland; to utilize the biosolids generated in the treatment process in an environmentally beneficial manner; and to operate and maintain numerous wastewater pumping stations to transport wastewater without overflows.
