POTOMAC SUBMERGED CHANNEL INTAKE STUDY
Working to ensure continued superior
water quality, WSSC is conducting a feasibility study of a
submerged Potomac River intake. The submerged intake would provide
access to a cleaner, safer, more stable raw water supply, reduce
operational costs and allow WSSC to continue to meet increasingly
stringent U.S. EPA requirements. The study began in summer 2003
and should be complete in spring 2006, and will address possible
locations, construction methods, costs, environmental impacts &
mitigation options and outreach activities. Please click on the
